Dr. Clint Willson - Director of the LSU Center for River Studies

Clint is the Mike N. Dooley, P.E. Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at LSU where, for the past 19 years, he has been teaching and conducting research primarily in water resources and environmental engineering. Clint obtained his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University and then was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving for almost seven years, Clint enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a M.S. in Environmental Engineering and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Prior to coming to LSU, he spent two years as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Over the past several years, Clint has served as the Director of the Engineering Design and Innovation Program at the Water Institute of the Gulf, President of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Baton Rouge Branch and as the Chair of the Changing Course Technical Team. He is currently Director of the CPRA-funded LSU Center for River Studies, a new research and education facility that is located on the Baton Rouge Water Campus.

eRotaryCoastal.org  weclomes Mat Sanders, resilience program and policy administrator for the State of Louisiana’s Office of Community Development (OCD). The state has received a $92.6M award in conjunction with the HUD-funded National Disaster Resilience Competition (NDRC), including a $40M award to support its resilience policy framework, Louisiana’s Strategic Adaptations for Future Environments (LA SAFE), and a $48.3M award to resettle the Isle de Jean Charles community in Terrebonne Parish. Mathew was the state’s project team lead for the NDRC application and currently leads the development of the two awarded projects.
